Everyone believes in something. Believing in things is what helps us make sense of things around us and make it through the day. Even if you don’t believe in a higher being, there are still things to believe in to give you hope and reason. Here are ten of my beliefs:
Love: I so so believe in love. All kinds of love to all kinds of people. It doesn’t have to be love at first sight (my boyfriend and I can attest to that) and it doesn’t have to be perfect love. Just the “I’m reaching out to you and giving you reason to keep going” kinda love is enough for me.
Best Friends: Or, as Katie and I say it, bestfriend. Some people claim they can’t pick just one best friend or they just don’t want to, which is fine. But for me, it’s a clear cut choice. My best friend and I can go for a while without talking and pick up right where we left off. I have never once doubted her over anything and I’d trust her with my life. If guardian angels walked this earth, she’d be mine. Some people automatically choose the person they’ve know the longest as their best friend, but really it’s the one that comes, never leaves, and never ever gives you a reason to let go.
Wishing: Wishing on stars, in tunnels, on dandelions, whatever. Wish on anything and everything. It doesn’t actually have to have a meaning but I think wishing is wonderful. Something about it just makes me feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest, even if my wish doesn’t come true immediately. It’s like just by wishing it, you’ve given it the potential to come true and that’s really all we need.. just the potential for some dreams to come true. We can take care of the rest.
Letting go: Yeah, I believe in letting go of lots of things. For me, letting go is easy. I don’t get attached to people or things very easily so I never struggle to let go of things that are bad for me. Some people like to think that keeping things that are bad for them close by is good because they don’t want the past to sneak up on them or something. But I don’t think things like that sneak up on you unless you let them. Don’t look for what you don’t want.
Dreams: This is right there with wishing. If you dream it, it can happen. I know that sounds really “motivational speaker who just took all your money”-ish, but I think it’s so true. I don’t care what anyone says, dreams and wishing are so real.
The power of Music: If you’ve ever been driving down the road on a beautiful sunny day after sharing a piece of cheesecake with your best friend and getting 50% off at your favorite clothing store and heard a sad song and started crying your eyes out, you’ve felt the power of music. It can change your emotions in a matter seconds. You can go from happy to sad or angry to calm with the push of a button. If that’s not power, I don’t know what is. Use this to your advantage, guys.
Change: Change for good, change for bad, change for the hell of it. I believe in it all. People aren’t meant to stay the same, and if you go through life thinking they are, you’re in for a rude awakening. People change, adapt, evolve, and grow. If you’re not doing these things, you’re not getting all you can out of life. Imagine if every time something bad happened, you stayed the same. You never change. You never find that emotion deep in you that says “I don’t care how I have to accomplish it, but I will never feel that way again.” I couldn’t imagine never getting that feeling. It’s that feeling that pushes me to try so hard every day. Without that feeling, I probably wouldn’t be here. Change is a big deal.
Miracles: Of course I believe in miracles. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every Disney and Pixar movie there is. How could one see so many of those kinda movies and not believe in miracles. Aside from the moves, miracles happen right in front of us every day. They just don’t get the national attention that people expect miracles to get. I think that finding true love in a world like ours is a miracle and that’s enough for me.
Second Chances: There are always those bitter people that say “no one gets second chances with me”. And when you ask them why, it’s usually because some past significant other has betrayed their trust too badly for them to consider giving anyone else a second chance. Which is totally unfair. When I think about how many times I completely and utterly screwed up and my parents gave me chance upon chance… that’s enough to make me give anyone in life at least two chances. Maybe that’s different with family. But take even teachers and coaches who give us chance after chance even when we keep disappointing them. I can’t count how many second chances I’ve had in life… enough to choke a horse that’s for sure. So I’m not denying anyone else their fair share a second chances.
Myself: I believe in who I was, who I am, and who I will be. But most of all, I believe in the power of me. I’ve accomplished more than I thought I could, just by continuing to walk this earth. That alone is enough to make me believe in the power of me to do anything I want.
Spill the beans:
What are some things you guys believe in?
Daisy of the Day: Having so many wonderful things to believe in, in a world so scary.

At night we’re waking up the neighbors
While we sing away the blues-
Making sure that we’re remembered cause we all matter, too.
If the truth has been forbidden

Emeli Sandé said it best.
This song is all I can think about when I hear of all the protests over the shooting of Michael Brown. It’s hard to put into words how I feel about it. I know that it’s scary. It’s scary because that could easily be one of my 3 brothers shot because of someone else’s fears/anger/hate. I think that’s what upsets me most about the situation. I just don’t know what I would do if it had been one of them. And that’s why it’s so important that people speak out now. We can’t wait any longer.
Let’s get the TV and the radio
To okay out tune again.
It’s ’bout time we got some airplay of our version of events.
There’s no need to be afraid,
I will sing with you my friend.
If it stops now, we could lose every step those before us worked so hard for. It’s finally coming to light and there are so many fighting for the cause.. It just can’t stop now.
